Hey there,

Welcome to my newly created blog where I will be sharing my own personal knowledge with

anyone who is interested in plants for their own home. For now, I will be focusing on indoor plants I have accumulated over the years or have been gifted to me. I hope to give you enough knowledge so, you yourself, can grow or invest in the same plant and thrive!

Today I will be discussing the Corn Plant, Well known as the Mass Cane which is in the Dracaena

Family. One of the best facts about this plant, other than how easy going it is, is that it can purify

your air. I will start with the watering process.

Watering

The watering process for the Mass Cane is fairly easy going, You will not have to water as often as you would water some of your other indoor plants. For this very reason is why I adore these plants so very much. You can somewhat neglect them and they can withstand the neglect. You want to ensure to have good drainage in your pot to avoid contracting root rot. This brings me to the next tip. You want to make sure the soil is moist and not soggy. Misting the leaves on your Mass Cane is another way of providing hydration since Mass Canes thrive in warmer tropical environments. You will want to keep an eye out on the water you are feeding your plant with. I say this because Mass Canes are sensitive to Fluoride. Fluoride can be found in your tap water. You will want to invest in a good purified water source when watering your plant. How do you know if your plant is suffering from fluoride toxicity? The leaves will being to brown at the tips and begin to decay. which indicates your plant suffering from fluoride toxicity. You can achieve a healthy and easier life for you plant by simply using rain or purified water

Sunlight

Mass Canes like bright indirect light. You never want to place a Mass

Cane in full sun. This would result in your leaves burning.

These plants thrive in temps of 65-78 degrees.

Toxicity

Yes , Mass Canes(Dracanes's) are poisonous to cat and dogs. If ingested, you pet could

suffer from dilated eyes, vomiting, appetite loss and other not so good things. I always suggest

to research any plant you bring into your home especially if you own a pet. Make sure to keep in a

high area away from your pet

Pest Problems

You might deal with are Mealy bugs, since it is the most common pest in Mass Canes. Your Best bet in treating this is keeping your plant clean at all times in wiping down the leaves of any visible mealy bugs. Remove any brown decay.
